- you know or suspect that you were sexually abused in your family or extended family; by a non-related person or stranger
- you have memories or intrusive images
- you have some of the characteristic consequences (exaggerated startle response, feelings of being bad or dirty, self-injury, self-destructive behavior, trouble with sexuality, use of substances or food to manage feelings, negative view of your body, detached or dissociated at inappropriate times)*
* The presence of symptoms does not necessarily indicate that you have been sexually abused. However, many people who were abused experience many of these symptoms. It's important to be aware that any of these symptoms can occur for reasons other than child sexual abuse.
